Aim for 8 hours of restful sleep every night, emphasis on the “restful.” 

This does not mean you get to fall into bed with your smartphone and scroll until you pass out then rise from bed 8 hours later. 

Going to bed with your phone will wire your brain up and your sleep will not be restful.

Do not bring your phone to bed with you! In fact, put it on airplane mode so you cannot even be disturbed by notification and radiation.

There is nothing like pushing yourself past the limits of your exertion and coming out the other side.

Aim for at least 30 minutes of exercise every single day of the week, even if it is just walking outside in the sunshine, and you will feel the benefits immediately.

If you overeat, eat crap, and don’t eat the good stuff consistently, you feel like crap. 

That’s all there is to it. 

You want to look great and feel great? 

You want to walk tall with your shoulders back and have people say “wow! Check her out!”? 

You gotta treat your body like a temple. 

And look, I’m not saying never to have your sour gummy worms or your pint of Ben N Jerry’s (obviously my faves). I am saying those things, plus the chips and fries and heavy meals with gravy and cream sauces, should be infrequent treats. 

Save them for a lazy Sunday. 

In general, you should have a diet rich in fruits and vegetables, whole grains, nuts and seeds, fatty fish, grass fed beef, and organic poultry. 

Food is fuel. 

Cut sugar and alcohol down to one time a week, maybe twice. 

And watch your life, and your body, and your self-confidence transform.

Remember, it usually takes several weeks for you to notice the difference in your lifestyle changes, and it takes your friends several months. 

I remember when I started making changes in my life it was a good six months before people started saying “Oh my goodness what have you been doing? You look great!” 

I had been implementing all daily changes like the ones I included here, and everyone just thought I was on some fad diet.

I recently told my friends and family that I will be getting yet another tattoo. 

This one will say “she’s not alone” complete with quotation marks. 

It’s a line from a Marvel movie, Endgame, when one female superhero is seemingly alone and about to be attacked, and another female superhero shows up with a bunch more female superheroes and says that line. 

It means so much to me because not only am I surrounded by a strong support system of friends and family, but I also realized that even when no one else can show up for me, I’m not alone. 

Connecting to the divine, to a higher power, to God, some may say, has changed my life in profound ways. 

Knowing that the Universe has my back and that my inner being is always with me is the most self-confidence boosting piece of knowledge available.

It is exercise and sleep and good food and happy pills all rolled into one.

I put this one last because it is, in many ways, the hardest.
