Astrology
Astrology is rooted in the heart of Babylon, a city founded more than 4,000 years ago, where we now find present-day Iraq.
The Babylonians built an amazing empire, one of the greatest in the world, and they had a thriving civilization with a robust educational system that included math, the arts, literature, and natural life (what we call science today).
It is from the Babylonians that we get astrology. They identified constellations in the sky, mapping out segments and zones as the sun and moon appeared and disappeared, and they named the 12 astrological zones according to their relation to the sun, the moon, and the earth.
The Pisces
The Pisces sign is the last among them, the 12th astrological zone, among the water signs.
The Pisces period runs from February 19 to March 20, according to today’s calendar, and it brings the seasonal year to an end.
Note that in pagan religions and cultures, the year ends when winter ends, and the new year begins on the spring solstice when the earth springs back to life.
It makes much more sense than having the year-end and a new year begin in the dead of winter, don’t you think? But that’s a whole other blog topic for another day.
Pisces is a water sign, and the astrological sign is represented by two fish swimming in opposite directions, symbolizing the constant division of Pisces’ attention between fantasy and reality.
This sign is perhaps the only one so deeply entrenched in its element, what with the fish symbolism, the time period reflecting a rainy season, and the representation of Pisces as deeply emotional.
To be born “under the Pisces sign” means that a person was born at a time when the sun occupied that particular constellation.
So, your birth sign is actually your sun sign. You also have a moon sign, which represents your emotional nature. So, if you are a sun Pisces and a moon Pisces, well… wow. Bring on the feelings.
What It Feels Like To Be A Pisces
It can be challenging to be born a Pisces if you are taught your whole life that you are not allowed to have feelings. In today’s society, men receive constant messaging that they must be “manly,” which is to say they cannot have feelings, cannot cry, cannot talk about their emotions, and must be strong, stoic, providers.
All of this, sadly, has led to a society filled with overly aggressive, hyper-masculine men who are out of touch with their feminine side and therefore struggle to relate to their women.
To add insult to injury, women are also encouraged to push down or push aside their femininity in order to compete with men in our extreme capitalist world and thus are relating to men on a “man to man” basis rather than a yin-yang one.
So, we have a world without feelings.
This reality is hard on everyone, but it is particularly hard on the Pisces who was born to feel it.
If you are just waking up to the fact that you were meant to come to terms with your emotions, sit with your feelings, and allow those feelings to guide you, welcome. I’m here to help.
Pisces: Finding Yourself
We are just leaving the Piscean Age, the time of getting in touch with our souls, beginning to understand human transcendence, dissolution of the self, and reaching for higher ideals.
Astrologers believe that each age lasts about 2,000 years, and the Piscean Age ended, it is thought, in 2012, when the Aquarian Age began.
So, if you’ve been experiencing a kind of “Christ consciousness” for the last ten years or so, this is why.
We are elevating as a people, and your soul is trying to help you level up.
Pisces energy encourages self-love, forgiveness, empathy, love, and devotion. The past 2,000 years put us firmly into a place to prepare for what is to come.
The Age of Aquarius is a time of discovery, innovation, and progress. It represents a time for a change.
If you are a Pisces coming into the Aquarian Age, you are better equipped than most, bringing with you your depth of emotion, empathy, and compassion.
“But wait!” You say. “How do I actually work with all of that energy???”
Right? It can be confusing. You feel it inside of you. You know it’s there. But you just can’t seem to connect with it, work with it, and use it to your and others, benefit.
Connecting with Your Pisces
Welcome to the world of the witch.
It can be very frustrating, especially at first, to connect to your divine power, to Source Energy, to your inner being, and to get your mojo flowing.
To, in essence, practice magic.
Where do you start?
You’re here! Just the fact that you’re looking into your signs and your chakra stone means you are on the path of self-discovery.
Congratulate yourself and get ready for a bumpy ride.
Don’t worry. You’re not alone. It’s a bumpy ride for us all, witches and otherwise.
Pisces Chakra Stone
The Pisces chakra stone is the aquamarine – yes, more water symbolism.
The Pisces birthstone is one of the best crystals for deep connection, connection to outer worlds, entering the spiritual realm, and good fortune in spiritual growth.
A crystal-clear blue stone that can look like literal moving water, the Pisces and the aquamarine represent the heart and the throat chakra.
During difficult times, crystal healing with Pisces gemstones brings positive energy, inner peace, spiritual energy, and inner strength. The powerful stone packs a punch of personal power and mental clarity that banishes negative emotions and enhances psychic abilities.
So to begin to connect with your inner Pisces and to continue on the path to self-discovery, your mediations should revolve around these two energetic centers.
Keep your aquamarine stone with you everywhere you go. Better yet, always wear an aquamarine on your body, and then have a separate aquamarine for morning meditation.
In the language of stones, aquamarine represents happiness, hope, and everlasting youth, much like the Pisces in astrology.
At your most balanced, you are carefree and full of positivity.
If you have found yourself out of balance and inundated by negative energy, now is the time to align.
Morning Meditations for Pisces
The best place to start to align your chakras, and particularly to get your Pisces chakras cleansed and in good order, is with morning meditation.
Morning meditation sets the tone for your day and encourages you to be more mindful of your thoughts, words, and actions as your day progresses.
As Elizabeth Gilbert, author of Big Magic, tells us, our emotions are slaves to our thoughts, and we are slaves to our emotions.
You cannot help the way you feel. And if you are a Pisces, you may even be feeling overwhelmed by the way you feel.
But you absolutely can control the way you think.
Sure, you may not be able to control every single thought that comes into your head, but you can control what you pay attention to.
Meditation helps clear this up, literally.
When you meditate, you clear your mind, you go to your internal quiet place, and you align yourself fully with Source Energy, who knows better than anyone what your set of intentions was when you came into this life.
Once you can tap into that, life becomes sooooooo much easier.
So, sit for morning meditation every single day, ideally for 20 minutes, before you do anything else for anyone else, and clear those chakras.
I like to do yoga before my morning meditation so that I can wake my body up. Anytime I am focusing on a particular chakra or energy, I lie down for meditation instead of sitting in a chair.
Also, make sure you have your Pisces chakra stone with you and your aquamarine, and place it over the heart when your focus is there and on or next to your throat when your focus is there.
👾 Prep Your Space
Before you begin meditation, be sure to prep your space, clear out any animals, or people, that might distract you, and create a quiet atmosphere free of distractions.
Now set your timer for 20 minutes.
🦵 Full Body Scan
Begin your meditation by performing a full body scan, working your way from your crown chakra to your root chakra, checking in with each part of your body as you go, and cleansing your chakras with an imaginary white scrub brush.
Be gentle! You don’t want to cut your chakra! (Just kidding. You can’t cut your chakra. But do be gentle with yourself.)
Then work your way back up your chakras, pulling light from the earth and into your body.
❤️ Focus on Heart
As you reach your heart, pay particular attention to your feelings, to your sense of unconditional love, and to your willingness to forgive, especially yourself.
Let your spirit guides send positive energies, emotional balance, and healing properties your way.
👅 Focus on Throat
As you make your way up to your throat, pool all the light in your body there before allowing it to disperse once more, focusing on your strength to speak your feelings and communicate clearly and directly with everyone you encounter.
Banish negative traits and invite spiritual protection.
When you complete your meditation, be sure to close out with a gentle but firm command like “as I will it, so mote it be.”
Happy manifesting!
